What is true web speed?▾
True web speed is the average of your five fastest major CDN downloads — Google, Cloudflare, Netflix, Amazon, and others — not a single test server. It reflects how fast you reach the networks that actually deliver the web.
How accurate is SpeedIP?▾
Download is measured across real CDN endpoints in parallel. Upload uses multi-stream testing to our edge server. Latency, jitter, and bufferbloat are measured in the same run.
What is bufferbloat?▾
Bufferbloat occurs when your router's buffers are too large, causing latency spikes during heavy traffic. SpeedIP measures your ping before and during speed tests and grades bufferbloat from A (excellent) to F (severe).
Do I need to create an account?▾
No. SpeedIP is completely free with no account, no ads, and no data collection beyond anonymous aggregate usage.
What is a good internet speed?▾
For most households, 100+ Mbps download and 20+ Mbps upload is excellent. Video streaming needs 25 Mbps, gaming needs low latency under 30ms, and 4K streaming needs 50+ Mbps.
